Weekly Fishing Report
Updated weekly by the man himself ~ Phil!
Fishing report for the week of February 5, 2012
First word of warning – Be Careful on the ice! No matter what lake you go on ice conditions are deteriorating and changing daily. Reports are coming in of guys on
four wheelers and falling through the ice! Please be careful and always fish with a partner. However; there are some great fish to be caught!
In the Western part of WI, ice has deteriorated so much that boats are now able to get out on the Mississippi. They are catching Walleye & Sauger. In Genoa and Lynxville, good numbers of Walleye and Saugers are also being caught there.
Panfish and Perch are being caught in Stoddard and DeSota Bay.
No reports from Cold Springs or Spring Lake. But don’t count them out yet! I’m sure there is more to come . .
.
WI River is reporting good catches of Walleye in the WI Dells area, below the dam. No report from Sauk City, but the fisherman out there, too.
Locally, in the Madison South area, an abundance of really large Northern and Walleye are showing up. And, good numbers of large perch this season.
Perch seems to be the major focus right now for a lot of anglers. As always, bluegill and crappies are always in abundance.
Not to brag, well maybe a little - I will tell you my Iiggy”lure and “Wuzzy Bug” have been great producers and working very well.
Give the silver jigging rapala a try for some nice perch. Red spikes and the rosey reds are the choice “live” baits this week. Black panfish lures are producing
Crappies and Bluegil. And, don’t forget the bait machine is always available 24/7 for your convenience stocking wax worms, spikes and a variety of tackle.
Beyond that folks, I’m sworn to secrecy. Stop in and share your fishing tale. Better yet – leave a testimonial of your fishing experience using our bait! We’d love to hear from you! Hope to you see in the shop!
